About the Student
My name is Samantha Ng. I am nine years old and in the third grade at Muir Elementary. I have
been studying Mandarin for four years, and I plan to continue studying it through high school.
Learning Mandarin is important to me because it is a part of my culture.
Assignment Guidelines (Instructor: Ying Yi Zhong 鍾 映 誼 )
Muir Elementary is a Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop school. This is one of the
personal narrative writing pieces that a student wrote during our narrative writing unit in Chinese.
Students were required to write two to three stories based on real-life experiences during the unit,
using the first-person point of view to narrate the story. In this case, the student did not seek
feedback from the teacher when writing this piece.
