Assignment Guidelines (Instructor: Jing Lin 林 静 )
Pretend to be a turkey and write a letter to the farmer before Thanksgiving to persuade farmers not
to eat turkey for Thanksgiving. The purpose of the assignment was to encourage informal writing
and creative writing practice, as well as to learn about persuasive writing and the Chinese letter
format. Students were allowed to use online resources and dictionaries to complete the work, with
no time limit.

• 写 作 内 容 : 本 篇 作 文 符 合 作 业 的 要 求 , 用 火 鸡 的 口 吻 提 出 不 被 杀 的 三 个 理 由 , 试 图
说 服 农 夫 。 虽 然 句 式 简 单 , 但 是 表 达 通 顺 , 条 理 清 晰 。 作 文 也 用 了 简 单 的 关 联 词 语
( 要 是 …… 的 话 )。 最 后 的 理 由 还 用 了 反 问 句 的 修 辞 手 法 。
