About the Student<br />
Narmene Omer ( 欧 娜 美 ), a junior, began studying <strong>Chinese</strong> in this academic year. This piece was<br />
written at the end <strong>of</strong> the fall semester when she had been studying the language for a little more<br />
than three months. Narmene's family is originally from Somaliland. She is a boarding student at<br />
Emma Willard School and has three <strong>Chinese</strong> I classes per week. In her spare time, Narmene enjoys<br />
drawing.<br />
Assignment Guidelines (Instructor: Guangyu Hao 郝 广 瑜 )<br />
Create a "Me" book using hand-written characters and visual elements to introduce the student and<br />
their family to <strong>Chinese</strong>-speaking readers. The book should include information such as the<br />
student's name, nationality, birthday, and hobbies. This project was assigned near the end <strong>of</strong> the<br />
fall semester and aimed to assess students' comprehensive understanding <strong>of</strong> basic topics they have<br />
learned, as well as to help them express themselves in multiple ways using the target language.<br />
Students were given approximately 180 minutes (3 class periods) to complete their work.<br />

已 经 展 现 出 接 下 来 学 习 阶 段 的 潜 力 。 学 生 创 造 性 地 运 用 自 己 家 庭 的 自 画 像 来 传 达 老 师 所 要<br />
求 的 语 言 内 容 , 这 一 举 措 丰 富 了 作 品 的 可 观 性 和 独 特 性 。 学 生 在 语 言 学 习 方 面 表 现 出 积 极<br />
的 趋 势 , 如 果 能 够 继 续 努 力 , 肯 定 能 够 迅 速 达 到 更 高 的 语 言 水 平 。
