About the Student
Holland is a fifth-grade student at Wake
Forest iStem Magnet School. She always
works hard and she is good at learning
Mandarin. She did a great job making her
comic strip even though she only comes to
Mandarin class once a week. She wrote all
the sentences and drew all the pictures by
herself. She finished doing it quickly. Her
Mandarin teacher is so proud of her!
Assignment Guidelines

Fifth graders are learning about food. They
are working on their presentational
communication skills. They need to make a
comic strip about buying food to take away.
Sentence frames, word banks, and online
menus are provided if students need them. They can also ask the teacher for help. The teacher
encourages students to make their works unique and creative. She hopes that the process of making
the comic stripe is fun for students and it is interesting for the readers to read.
