Development of Organic Agriculture
Der ökologische Landbau hat sich seit
Beginn der neunziger Jahre in fast allen
Ländern Europas sehr rasch entwickelt
(s. Abbildung 3). Anfang 2000 wurden
in den Ländern der EU, den sechs
Beitrittstaaten und der Europäischen
Freihandelszone (EFTA) fast 3,5
Millionen Hektar von knapp 130 000
Betrieben ökologisch bewirtschaftet. Das
waren über zwei der
landwirtschaftlichen Nutzfläche und
knapp anderthalb Prozent der Betriebe.

Since the beginnings of the 1990s
organic farming has developed very
rapidly in almost all European
countries (see figure 3). At the
beginning of 2000 in the 15 EUcountries,
its six accession- and in
