Motor für das starke Wachstum der
Biofläche war in USA nicht nur die
Nachfrage im Inland sondern auch die
aus Japan und Europa (Harding 2000).
Aufgrund zahlreicher
Lebensmittelskandale (z.B.
Hormonfleisch) und der Ablehnung der
Verbraucher von gentechnisch
veränderten sowie bestrahlten
Lebensmitteln hat sich in den USA in
den letzten Jahren ein starker
einheimischer Markt für Bioprodukte
entwickelt. Er wird für 2000 von auf
mindestens 8 Milliarden US-Dollar
geschätzt. Dies sind ca. ein Prozent des
US-Gesamtmarktes.

the growth of organic land had been
the demand from Japan and Europe.
Because of numerous food scandals
and consumer refusal of genetically
engineered and irradiated foods, a
major market for organic products
has developed in the USA in recent
years. Harding (2000) estimates that
the US-market will be at least 8
billion US-Dollar in 2000. This
constitutes around one per cent of
the total market.
