4.1. Die Internationale Vereinigung Ökologischer
Landbaubewegungen
IFOAM -The International Federation of Organic Agriculture
Movements IFOAM
Die International Federation of Organic
Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) ist der
internationale Dachverband der
Ökolandbauorganisationen. Sie hat ca.
750 Mitglieder in 104 Ländern. Diese
sind im Verzeichnis der IFOAM-
Mitgliedsorganisationen aufgeführt
(IFOAM 2000). Ausgewählte IFOAM-
Mitglieder wurden zu Flächen und
Betrieben in ihren Ländern befragt.
Aber auch in verschiedenen IFOAM-
Publikationen wurden statistische
Informationen gefunden: Zu nennen sind
die Konferenzbände der IFOAM sowie
die Zeitschriften „Ecology & Farming"
und "Ökologie & Landbau" (deutsches,
von der SÖL herausgegebenes IFOAM-
Organ).
1999 veranstaltete die IFOAM
zusammen mit ihren italienischen
Mitgliedsorganisationen und der Sana
(die größte Naturkostfachmesse in
Italien) ihre sechste Internationale
Handelskonferenz in Florenz. Auf dieser
Konferenz wurde über die Situation des
Ökolandbaus in den einzelnen
Kontinenten berichtet. Diese Berichte
enthalten zahlreiche
Hintergrundinformationen (Lockeretz
und Geier, 2000).

organisation of organic agriculture
organisations has around 750
member organisations and
institutions in104 countries, which
are listed in its membership directory
(IFOAM 2000). Among selected
representatives a survey was carried
out.
IFOAM’s conference proceedings
and the magazines ”Ecology &
Farming” and ”Ökologie & Landbau”
(German IFOAM organ published by
SÖL) are all very useful sources of
information on organic agriculture
world-wide.
In 1999 IFOAM held - in conjunction
with its Italian member organisations
and Sana, the organiser of the
biggest organic fair in Italy- its sixth
international trade conference in
Florence, Italy. At this conference
reports about the general organic
and the trade situation in the
continents were given. With these
reports a considerable amount of
background information was made
available (Lockeretz und Geier,
2000).
