In der Europäischen Union hat zwischen
1986 und 1996 die ökologisch
bewirtschaftete Fläche jährlich um
durchschnittlich 30 Prozent
zugenommen (siehe Abbildung 4). Das
stärkste Wachstum findet in
Skandinavien und den
Mittelmeerländern statt. In Mittel- und
Osteuropa ist ebenfalls ein starkes
Wachstum zu verzeichnen (siehe
Abbildungen zur Entwicklung des
ökologischen Landbaus in den Ländern
Europas im Anhang).
Zwischen den einzelnen Ländern gibt es
erhebliche Unterschiede: In Österreich
werden fast zehn Prozent der Fläche
ökologisch bewirtschaftet, und in
Liechtenstein sind es sogar über 17
Prozent. Deutschland bewegt sich mit
2,6 Prozent im Mittelfeld
(siehe Tabellen 5 und 6).
52
the European Union between 1986
and 1996 the land under organic
management grew annually by 30
per cent (see figure 4). The strongest
growth is demonstrated in
Scandinavia and the Mediterranean
countries. In Central- and Eastern
Europe there is also a strong
increase in the number of organic
farms (see figures on the
development of organic farming in
countries of Europe in the annex).
There are, however, substantial
differences between the countries. In
Austria almost ten per cent of the
agricultural land is organic, and in
Liechtenstein it is even 17 per cent.
Germany has 2,6 per cent
(see tables 5 and 6).
