Ziel: The course will consist of language<br />
classes based on case studies from a variety<br />
of broad public law fields such as judicial<br />
review, administrative and planning<br />
law, environmental law, and European law.<br />
Inhalt: course materials consist of reading<br />
and listening texts based on the ilEc examination<br />
format. Written work will consist<br />
of a letter (180 – 200 words) and a short<br />
memorandum (220 – 240 words) based on<br />
the ilEc written paper model.<br />

Termin <strong>der</strong> ersten Veranstaltung:<br />
montag, 26. september 2011<br />
Ziel: The course will develop the oral skills<br />
of mooting - presenting a case and arguing<br />
legal points in detail. The moots will be based<br />
on individual issues raised in the 19th<br />
Willem c. Vis international commercial<br />
arbitration moot 2011-2012. The course<br />
is recommended for all students in Trimester<br />
4. most course participants will work<br />
on a limited number of issues on the basis<br />
of provided materials, so as to ensure a<br />
manageable workload.<br />
Inhalt: students prepare skeleton argu-<br />
ments and moot speeches on the basis<br />
of specific commercial law and arbitration<br />
scenarios drawn from the Willem c. Vis<br />
problem. The legal problem and authorities<br />
will draw on the german legal know-<br />

ledge gained during the first period of<br />
studies. in class students perform a moot<br />
court exercise with a ‚Tribunal‘ selected<br />
from their number. Emphasis will be laid<br />
on oral delivery but also dialogue with<br />
the Tribunal. a written submission on an<br />
aspect of the problem is to be prepared<br />
during the course.<br />
Leistungsnachweis: grading on the basis<br />
of oral performance, a short written submission,<br />
and a test moot.<br />
