Ziel: as a follow-up to the legal negotiation<br />
course (Trimester 2), advanced negotia-<br />
tion examines theoretical approaches to<br />
negotiation while at the same time offering<br />
a series of practical negotiation simulations.<br />
Inhalt: students will carry out the simulati-<br />
ons and then reflect on their performance<br />
on the basis of the theoretical ideas offered<br />
as well as a detailed recording of<br />
their performance. There will also be a series<br />
of readings from well-known texts on<br />
negotiation (course rea<strong>der</strong>).<br />
Leistungsnachweis: The course will be<br />
assessed in terms of performance on the<br />
course as well as an oral and a written test.<br />

Ziel: The course is intended as preparation<br />
for the examination leading to the international<br />
legal English certificate un<strong>der</strong> the<br />
auspices of cambridgeEsol to be taken at<br />
bucerius law school in the bucerius ilEc<br />
Examination centre.<br />
Inhalt: a series of lessons will be given<br />
covering the terminology needed for the<br />
main parts of the examination and providing<br />
practice in examination technique.<br />
The examination takes the standard cambridge<br />
format and comprises tests in reading,<br />
writing (a letter and short memo),<br />
listening and a paired interview. The certificate<br />
is designed for senior students and<br />
young legal practitioners and provides an<br />
external, internationally recognised standard<br />
of achievement in legal English. it is<br />
expected to enhance the prospects of those<br />
applying for positions in law firms with<br />
an international focus. The exam takes<br />
place twice a year (next date: 19 november<br />
2011) and costs 205 Euro for students.<br />
The course will begin with a mock test so<br />
that participants can gauge their chances<br />
of success in the examination.<br />
