Content: This course focuses on issues
to be taken into account when drafting
or enforcing an international commercial
contract. it begins by outlining the different
alternative dispute resolution possibilities
before discussing international civil procedure
relevant to international commercial
contracts. The second part of the course
focuses on private international law rules
concerning international commercial contracts
and on substantive laws that might
be applicable to contracts. specific topics
such as payment and bill of ladings and
documents of title are also addressed.

The Law of the EU

Content: The course begins with the “in-
stitutional law” of the Eu: its history and
development, the main characteristics of
Eu law, its relation to national law, competences
and tasks of the institutions of the
Eu, judicial protection and fundamental
rights. The second part of the course deals
with “substantive law” of the Eu. it encompasses
the “basic freedoms” as well as
an introduction to Eu competition law. in
both parts, reference is given to case law
as provided for by the jurisprudence of the
court of Justice of the European communities.
