Content: from the consumer’s point of<br />
view, the introduction of the Euro and<br />
market liberalization together with crossbor<strong>der</strong><br />
competition brought not only great<br />
opportunities, but also risks. This course<br />
analyzes the development of the consumer<br />
protection policy of the European<br />
community (Ec) and introduces the main<br />
legislative outcomes in the area of safeguarding<br />
consumers’ economic interests.<br />
Topics include the respective Ec directives<br />
and their national implementation<br />
measures, the jurisprudence of the European<br />
court of Justice regarding these<br />
directives and an appraisal of the Ec’s efforts<br />
to review the consumer acquis.<br />
