Content: This course introduces basic<br />
international banking products and transactions,<br />
such as deposits, forwards, futures,<br />
swaps, options, project financing<br />
and securitizations. discussions will focus<br />
on (1) the purpose of these transactions<br />
and their economic / financial workings<br />
and risk profiles and (2) their legal requirements,<br />
documentation and advisory<br />
needs, and will introduce the regulatory<br />
aspects driving many of these transactions.<br />
course materials include landmark<br />
cases, scholarly writings, samples of reallife<br />
documentation, instructions for a negotiation<br />
session and other readings. no<br />
in-depth financial or banking knowledge is<br />

Content: The course examines arbitration<br />
as a dispute resolution process for international<br />
business and trade disputes. it<br />
analyzes the advantages, different forms<br />
and contractual and legal bases of arbitration.<br />
further issues discussed are the<br />
arbitration agreement, jurisdiction of the<br />
arbitral tribunal, the role of the courts in<br />
arbitration proceedings and the recognition<br />
and enforcement of arbitral awards.<br />
special attention is given to the international<br />
framework of arbitration. Thus, the<br />
focus is on commercial arbitration as an<br />
international phenomenon and not on<br />
arbitration un<strong>der</strong> any particular national<br />
system.<br />
