Content: The seminar addresses why<br />
human rights is a business issue and examines<br />
specific contexts for how human<br />
rights manifests in business contexts, such<br />
as labor issues, operations in failing states,<br />
and the impact extractive industries have<br />
on surrounding, and often indigenous, populations.<br />
finally, the course looks to the<br />
international business and human rights<br />
frame-work and remedies, focusing on<br />
voluntary approaches by businesses, various<br />
regulatory frameworks that have been<br />
implemented or proposed, and domestic<br />
and international adjudication.<br />

Content: This course aims to teach the<br />
practical skills and theoretical background<br />
of professional conflict resolution, with a<br />
focus on the interest-based method of<br />
mediation. The class begins with a conflict<br />
and communication analysis, followed by<br />
a discussion on the techniques and methods<br />
of mediation. students learn to deal<br />
with conflicts systematically and constructively<br />
by means of several role plays and<br />
simulations, which are individually analyzed.<br />

articles and book excerpts.<br />
