Kommentar Each year, the Harvard World Model United Nations (WorldMUN) brings
together more than 2.000 students from over 50 different countries to simulate the
work of the UN committees. Students interested in international relations have the
opportunity to directly experience the process of diplomatic negotiations. The aim
of this seminar is to prepare the student delegation to represent the actual political
interests of a specific country in the various UN committees (e.g. Security
Council, WHO, UNHCR). In these committees students will debate according to
the UN rules of parliamentary procedure. During the seminar we will approach
the following aspects of international relations: the structure of international
organizations, rules of parliamentary debate as well as international law and
diplomacy. Besides, students will be given the opportunity to enhance their
presentation skills. Since preparation for the trip will be organized by students,
regular and active participation is expected. Students must be prepared to
participate organizing and planning for the trip. In March 2010, the 19th World
MUN will take place in Tapei (http://www.worldmun.org/welcome/). The number
of delegates attending the conference in Taipei is restricted to 15. Students who
will not be able to participate at WorldMun in Taipei in 2010 are invited to
participate at national conferences simulating the work of the UN, for example in
Hamburg (http://www.hansemun.de/hammun/) or in Bremen
(http://www.brimun.org/).The seminar will be held in English to prepare and
simulate committee sessions at the conference; therefore good English skills are

Kommentar In der Lehrveranstaltung sollen Herausforderungen, Ausprägungen und
Wirkungen von Integrationspolitiken im Einwanderungskontinent Europa
diskutiert werden. Dabei sollen unterschiedliche Theorien, Länder, politische
Ebenen, gesellschaftliche Bereiche und Akteure berücksichtigt werden.
