microscope for taking indentation of a diamond indenter on a specimen
surface under certain loads in gram. An illumination system is mounted on the
microscope with a rotating table. The set up is having accuracy of ± 20 Vicker.
In the present study, the Vickers indenter loads were varied from 0.298 N to
0.98 N in order to study the effect of load on micro-hardness. The indentation
time of 15 second was kept constant throughout the experimental work. The
size of the impression was measured using a filar micrometer eyepiece.

Between the two neighboring indentation marks on the same surface, a
separation of at least five indentations was maintained to avoid the effect of
interference.
