will increase by quadruple its growth in the next five years; it was $ 9.4 billion<br />

in 2004.<br />

1.11 Literature Available on NLO<br />

A vast spectrum of literature, review articles and books are available on<br />

nonlinear optics and nonlinear materials and it is difficult to review and cite<br />

them all, humble attempt is made to cite a few of them. Several review and<br />

popular articles are written by many authors [114-117]. Review articles are<br />

available on advances in parametric amplification and processing [118] and<br />

on advances in photorefractive nonlinear optics [119] and on organic<br />

nonlinear optical materials [27]. Several well written books are available on<br />

NLO optics [3, 4, 12, 13,120,121]. However, there are certain novel features<br />

associated with NLO materials explored, for example, the nano-scale<br />

nonlinear optics [122], nanophotonic materials [123,124]. New non-linear<br />

optical materials have been developed based on ferro fluids [125]. There are<br />

certain Handbooks written on various aspects of non-linear optics, for<br />

instance, Handbook of non-linear optics [126] and Handbook of Laser Science<br />

and Technology of optical materials [127], Handbooks on photonics<br />

[11,128,129] Also, books are available on subjects like numerical modeling in<br />

nonlinear optics [130], complete study of organic nonlinear optical materials<br />

[45] and polymers [114], as well as recent progress [131] and nonlinear<br />

optical properties of matter [132] and recent survey of NLO materials [32] .<br />
