sou<strong>the</strong>rn Mendoc<strong>in</strong>o, western Lake, <strong>and</strong> nor<strong>the</strong>rn<br />

Sonoma Counties, Cal. In <strong>the</strong> present census <strong>the</strong><br />

subdivisions of <strong>the</strong> stock were enumerated under <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

respective names as Clear Lake, Little Lake, etc.,<br />

but it is probable that a small proportion of <strong>the</strong>se<br />

were enumerated simply as Pomo <strong>and</strong>, if so, <strong>the</strong> totals<br />

for <strong>the</strong> subdivisions are <strong>in</strong>complete to that extent.<br />

The number emmierated <strong>in</strong> <strong>1910</strong> as Pomo were 777,<br />

of ^hich 776 were <strong>in</strong> California <strong>and</strong> 1 <strong>in</strong> Arizona.<br />

SALINAX STOCK.<br />

A name apphed for convenience to <strong>the</strong> remnants of<br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>Indian</strong>s of this stock formerly connected with <strong>the</strong><br />

Mission of San Antonio, Monterey County, Cal., <strong>and</strong><br />

known as San Antonio. The niunber enumerated <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>1910</strong> was only 16, all <strong>in</strong> California.<br />

SALISHAN STOCK.<br />

Stock as a whole.—The tribes of this stock extended<br />

over a large area cover<strong>in</strong>g most of nor<strong>the</strong>rn <strong>and</strong> western<br />

Wash<strong>in</strong>gton, nor<strong>the</strong>rn Idaho, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> northwestern<br />

corner of Oregon, <strong>and</strong> extend<strong>in</strong>g a considerable distance<br />

north of <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational boundary <strong>in</strong> British<br />

Columbia.<br />

The <strong>Indian</strong>s of <strong>the</strong> Salishan stock <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>United</strong><br />

<strong>States</strong>, as enumerated <strong>in</strong> <strong>1910</strong>, numbered 7,833. To<br />

this figm-e should be added probably nearly 1,000 for<br />

<strong>Indian</strong>s of this stock reported without dist<strong>in</strong>ction of<br />

tribe among <strong>the</strong> general <strong>population</strong> ia Washiugton <strong>and</strong><br />

Idaho. The tribes of this stock, for which members<br />

were reported, are as follows:<br />
