DR. CHARMAINE ROYE<br />
Dr. Charmaine Roye is a medical graduate from McGill University. She has just transitioned<br />
from an active practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology and an appointment as Chief of<br />
Medical Staff at the Brant Community Healthcare System, a 350-bed community hospital in<br />
Brantford, Ontario. She has held many positions in organized medicine, including<br />
membership on the CMA Board of Directors from 2004 to 2007 while she was Chair of the<br />
CMA Committee of Affiliated Societies. She is currently Director, Professional Relations and<br />
Strategic Health Alliances at the CMA.<br />
DR. MAUREEN SHANDLING<br />
Dr. Maureen Shandling is a neurologist and Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the<br />
University of Toronto, and Vice President Medical Affairs and Deputy Physician in Chief at<br />
Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. During her career she has focused her academic<br />
work in medical education and professional practice. She has held senior positions at the<br />
University of Toronto, including as Associate Dean, Student Admissions and Financial<br />
Services, in the Faculty of Medicine.<br />
She was a member of the National Steering Committee of the Future of Medical Education<br />
in Canada Postgraduate (FMEC-PG) Project and is now a member of the FMEC-PG Transitions<br />
Forum. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada<br />
Consensus on Duty Hours project, as Chair of the Expert Working Group on Health Systems<br />
Performance and Health Economics. She was recently appointed to the Royal College’s Committee on<br />
Specialties.<br />
DR. JOSE FRANCOIS<br />
Dr. Francois is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Associate<br />
Dean for Continuing Professional Development at the Faculty of Medicine of the University<br />
of Manitoba. He is a family physician at St-Boniface Hospital and the St-Boniface Health<br />
Centre. He completed his MD at the Université de Sherbrooke, his family medicine<br />
residency at the University of Manitoba, and his Masters of Medical Education at the<br />
University of Dundee. His areas of educational interest include lifelong learning and<br />
assessment and feedback in the practice setting.<br />
