Interested in these careers? Your first step could be a Level 3 Extended Diploma in
Construction and the Built Environment. This Diploma is a full time two year course, suitable
for those without previous experience of Construction – it is highly regarded by Employers and
gives you the equivalent of 3 A Levels on completion.
Moving on
Whether you hope to progress to University or start a Technical / Trainee Management post
in Construction, the Diploma provides an excellent grounding in key aspects of the Industry,
covering, amongst others, Sustainable Construction, 21st Century Technology, Engineering
Science, Computer Aided Design and modern Surveying methods.

What will I study?
Environmental concern is now at the heart of everything we do as a society – from building
roads to planning airports or constructing houses. Understanding the Technology and Science
will be crucial for future professionals developing a Low Carbon economy.
If you are already employed in the ‘Green’ economy, or want to investigate the potential for
employment before progressing, this course gives you the development you need.
Assessment is based on written assignments, which are designed to prepare you for a
professional role. There are 3 mandatory and three optional Units, which may include a
research Project, giving you the chance to get involved in an area of Sustainability which
interests you.
Moving on
This exciting new course will equip students for progression in the field of Environmental
Technology, an area widely acknowledged to be suffering skills shortages or progression
could be to a HNC or HND in a related subject (such as Environmental Conservation) or the full
time L3 Extended Diploma Engineering industries.
