APPRENTICESHIPS
ThE collEGE AppRENTIcEshIp TEAM
Offers Apprenticeships for 16-18 year olds, 19-24 year
olds and 25 years and over. This is a very good way of
learning a trade and gaining a nationally recognised
qualifi cation whilst earning while you learn.
WhAT Is AN AppRENTIcEshIp?
Apprenticeships (also known as work-based
learning) enable you to train for the career of
your choice whilst gaining valuable practical
experience in the workplace. This means that as an
Apprentice you can earn whilst you learn and train
towards a national vocational qualifi cation (NVQ).
Apprenticeships provide NVQs at Levels 2 and 3.
As an Apprentice you will gain the knowledge,
ability and skills needed to work in your chosen
area. You are assessed on your ability to complete
practical tasks at work or in a work environment.
An Apprenticeship can provide paid employment, good
qualifi cations and excellent career prospects for
motivated young people.
BENEFITs oF AN AppRENTIcEshIp INcluDE:
You will be getting paid by your employer to learn
through your Apprenticeship. You will be gaining
valuable skills and training, which will lead to an NVQ 2
or 3. The Apprenticeship lasts for two or three years,
after which you can progress onto higher education or
secure full time employment.
WhAT Is AN NvQ?
NVQs are awarded for occupational competence and
are enhanced by commerce and industry. They allow
Apprentices to study and train, gaining the knowledge,
ability and skills needed to work in their chosen area.
Apprentices are assessed on their ability to complete
practical tasks at work or in a work environment.
