Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 and Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 Retail<br />

Financial Services<br />

What will I study?<br />

As an Apprentice you could work in a wide range of Financial Services roles associated<br />

with: General Insurance, Long Term Insurance, Retail Banking, Building Societies, Financial<br />

Services Advise and Investment Administration. Aspects of the job include face to face and<br />

telephone contact with customers, dealing with insurance claims and giving information about<br />

products. Both the Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship include skills assessment in<br />

the workplace, day release study for the Technical Certificate and embedded Key Skills.<br />

Moving on<br />

Once completed, Apprentices can go on to study for a number of Advanced Qualifications and<br />

Diplomas, Specialist Qualifications of Higher Level Qualifications (eg. Attain Chartered Status<br />

or Financial Planner Certification). Career opportunities include: Banking, Insurance, Sales<br />

and Marketing of Financial Services.<br />

What Does a Retail Assistant do?<br />

As a Retail employee, your role will depend on the needs of the business and your employer<br />

– you could be assisting customers on the sales floor of a high street store or handling their<br />

purchases in a small establishment. Alternatively, you could be working in a specialist retail<br />

outlet becoming a product expert helping with specific queries. A Retail Skills qualification<br />

offers you the chance to develop new skills and gain recognition for the expertise you already<br />

possess allowing you to progress your career in the Retail Industry. The qualification is<br />

assessed in the workplace and offers flexibility in the choice of units to match your job role.<br />

You will be supported to complete the qualification by an Retail Industry experienced and<br />

competent Assessor.<br />

Moving On<br />

On completion of the Level 2 Certificate you will be given the opportunity to progress onto<br />

the Level 3 Diploma in Retail. From organising displays to learning the crucial aspects of<br />

management, the skills gained from this qualification are transferable to a wide range of<br />

Retail companies selling a vast range of products. The UK’s retail sector is vibrant and offers<br />

many opportunities for early career progression.<br />
