BTEC LEVEL 1 IT USERS CERTIFICATE<br />

This course is delivered combined with the Level 1 Certifi cate in IT<br />

What will I study?<br />

An ideal course if you are interested in working in an IT related fi eld such as offi ce work, but<br />

need to develop your skills and understanding of employment opportunities. You will learn<br />

about the types of jobs that are available, who you might work for and what working will be<br />

like. The course involves learning to use a computer for business activities, developing an<br />

understanding of how computers work, how to use the internet. It will also develop personal<br />

fi nance management.<br />

Moving On<br />

This course can lead to employment within the IT and Business Administration sector as<br />

well as progression onto: BTEC Diploma for ICT Practitioners; BTEC Diploma in Retail or BTEC<br />

Diploma in Business.<br />

What Will I Study<br />

You will learn how to use a computer safely and store your work securely. ICT Graphics:<br />

Electronic pictures are now an everyday part of our lives. Digital cameras are everywhere<br />

- many of us have them built in to our phones or buy them relatively cheaply. You will learn<br />

how to use software to create and modify graphic images. Mobile Communication: This unit<br />

looks at wireless connections such as mobile phone networks, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Web<br />

Development: The Internet is now an important part of most people's lives. This unit teaches<br />

you how to make web pages and web sites. The use of text, colour, pictures, links and many<br />

other features are covered in detail. Developing Computer Games: This unit will give you<br />

the opportunity to design a simple game and acquire the skills in testing and documenting<br />

computer games.<br />

Moving On<br />

This qualifi cation will provide employment opportunities in areas such as systems support,<br />

network design and technical support services. Progression opportunities include Level 3<br />

System Support or Computer Games Development.<br />
