State-of-the-art
facilities open
to all InspIre sports Centre
Opened in September 2011, the
College has some fantastic sports
facilities including a full size 3G
pitch, sports hall and climbing wall.
The facilities include: Basketball,
netball, 5-a-side football,
volleyball, badminton, korfball,
indoor cricket, table tennis,
trampolining and climbing wall.
Gym & FItness Centre
Opened in September 2011, our
fully equipped gym is open all the
year round including weekends
and is available to our learners
to use. An instructor is always
on duty to help you work out a
fitness programme too! Classes
in yoga, aerobics and circuit
training are run regularly as well
as women only sessions. Students
on a sport and leisure course can
gain instruction and supervisory
experience here.
DanCe stuDIo
Opened in September 2011, our
Dance Studio is fully equipped
with a sprung floor, ballet bars
and mirrors.
reCorDInG stuDIo
We are equipped with industry
standard hardware and software
ranging from the latest Apple
iMacs running Pro Tools , Reason
and Ableton Live, as well as
an extensive suite of plugin
instruments and effects, to our
recording studio equipped with a
Pro Tools HD2 system, C24 control
surface and Genelec 5.1 surround
sound system, Yamaha NS10s,
Soundcraft 6000 and 16 track
analogue recorder
empty spaCe theatre
Our Empty Space Theatre
is used extensively by our
performing arts students for
their productions. A professional
theatre, it has recently being the
venue for productions by external
drama companies.
the Full Works:
haIr anD Beauty salons
When you feel like a break and a little TLC
you can always have your hair cut, your
nails painted, your legs waxed or your back
massaged at the Full Works, our own hair
and beauty salons. These are staffed by
learners on our Hairdressing and Beauty
Therapy courses and supervised by tutors.
Our commercial salons are open five days
a week and treatments are offered at very
reasonable rates.
learnInG resourCes Centre
The Learning Resources Centre is a great
place to do research, to write up an
assignment, create a presentation or just
chill out with a good book. The Library has
a great selection of books, magazines and
DVDs to support all courses. We also provide
electronic books, articles, images and films
delivered to you via the internet and available
24/7. There is the opportunity to work on
your own in our quiet areas or with others. We
have nearly 100 computers in our Learning
Zones, all with internet access and Microsoft
Office software. We also have specialist
software such as Photoshop, Read and Write
Gold and Dragon Naturally Speaking on
selected computers. You can print in black
and white or colour (all new students receive
a £5 print allowance). You can copy files to
your own area on the College network, or to
USB flash drive, DVD or CD. We also provide
scanners in each Zone. Our staff are very
friendly and welcoming and are here to help
you succeed at College. So come down to the

one Centre
The One Centre aims to support all Calderdale
College learners in successfully achieving
their personal goals during their time at the
College. This is achieved through providing
the opportunity to participate in a range of
activities, whether its learning a new skill,
organising an activity or trip, taking part in a
project or socialising with other learners. The
team work closely with the Student Union to
support its activities.
CaFé
Our new Café opened in September 2011 and
provides a wide range of cooked breakfasts,
lunches, sandwiches, snacks and hot and
cold drinks. Meet your friends, relax in
between classes or just enjoy your break and
listen to the radio. You get great choice, and
competitive prices. Vegetarian options are
always available and we’ve recently received
a Healthy Eating award for providing healthy
food options.
