Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 Electrical Installation
What will I study?
During the fi rst year an Advanced Apprentice Electrician can expect to assist the electricians
on site with tasks relating to the installation of electrical systems and equipment. In the
second year, you will be required to carry out basic tasks under supervision. In the third
and forth years you will be expected to carry out skilled tasks including installing electrical
cables and equipment in domestic, commercial and industrial environments, and the visual
inspection and electrical testing of those installations. The programme involves one day
a week attendance at College to gain the knowledge for the Technical Certifi cate of the
qualifi cation. The remainder of your time will be spent on site gathering evidence towards the
NVQ assessment portfolio.
Moving on
The Advanced Apprenticeship programme can lead onto specialist short courses, Degree
in Electrical Engineering, City & Guilds 730 Teacher’s Certifi cate and the Level 4 Assessor
Award. Career opportunities include: site management, project management, quantity
surveying and architecture.

Apprenticeship Level 2 in Hairdressing
What will I study?
The Apprenticeship in Hairdressing allows you to work in Industry where an assessor will
come to your work place to assess you on the practical elements of the course. One day a
week you will be released to college to complete the knowledge requirements, train in a
realistic working environment and complete the Key Skill elements of the programme. The
units are selected on the basis of relevance to the industry and the employability value.
» Shampoo & Condition Hair – apply all types of shampoo & conditioning products, using
various massage techniques
» Style & Finish – working on different hair lengths you will use various tools and blow drying
techniques to straighten and smooth the hair, create volume and curl.
» Change hair colour – you will learn to apply a re- growth and full head application of
permanent colour and application of woven highlights.
» Set & dress hair - use various types of setting and dressing techniques to create rolled
effects, smooth effects and curled effects.
» Cut hair using basic techniques – one length, layered and graduated cuts, including scissor
over comb
Moving on
Ideally on completion of your Apprenticeship you will be able to move onto the Advanced
Apprenticeship to further develop the skills that you have gained at Level 2.
