Qualifi cation<br />

Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 Electrical Installation<br />

What will I study?<br />

During the fi rst year an Advanced Apprentice Electrician can expect to assist the electricians<br />

on site with tasks relating to the installation of electrical systems and equipment. In the<br />

second year, you will be required to carry out basic tasks under supervision. In the third<br />

and forth years you will be expected to carry out skilled tasks including installing electrical<br />

cables and equipment in domestic, commercial and industrial environments, and the visual<br />

inspection and electrical testing of those installations. The programme involves one day<br />

a week attendance at College to gain the knowledge for the Technical Certifi cate of the<br />

qualifi cation. The remainder of your time will be spent on site gathering evidence towards the<br />

NVQ assessment portfolio.<br />

Moving on<br />

The Advanced Apprenticeship programme can lead onto specialist short courses, Degree<br />

in Electrical Engineering, City & Guilds 730 Teacher’s Certifi cate and the Level 4 Assessor<br />

Award. Career opportunities include: site management, project management, quantity<br />

surveying and architecture.<br />

Qualifi cation<br />

Apprenticeship Level 2 in Hairdressing<br />

What will I study?<br />

The Apprenticeship in Hairdressing allows you to work in Industry where an assessor will<br />

come to your work place to assess you on the practical elements of the course. One day a<br />

week you will be released to college to complete the knowledge requirements, train in a<br />

realistic working environment and complete the Key Skill elements of the programme. The<br />

units are selected on the basis of relevance to the industry and the employability value.<br />

» Shampoo & Condition Hair – apply all types of shampoo & conditioning products, using<br />

various massage techniques<br />

» Style & Finish – working on different hair lengths you will use various tools and blow drying<br />

techniques to straighten and smooth the hair, create volume and curl.<br />

» Change hair colour – you will learn to apply a re- growth and full head application of<br />

permanent colour and application of woven highlights.<br />

» Set & dress hair - use various types of setting and dressing techniques to create rolled<br />

effects, smooth effects and curled effects.<br />

» Cut hair using basic techniques – one length, layered and graduated cuts, including scissor<br />

over comb<br />

Moving on<br />

Ideally on completion of your Apprenticeship you will be able to move onto the Advanced<br />

Apprenticeship to further develop the skills that you have gained at Level 2.<br />
