What will I study?
This is a one year programme designed if you would like to work in a supporting role in
childcare settings. You will spend two days a week on work placement, as well as studying a
variety of subjects including:
Child Development » Communication » Play and activities » Safeguarding » Early Years
Settings » Health and Safety
Moving on
Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education or NVQ 3 in Childrens Care& Young Persons
Welfare or an Apprenticeship. This could lead to a career in private day nurseries, education,
health authorities, social services and private homes in Britain as well as overseas as a
nursery assistant, holiday companies and cruise-liners.

What will I study?
The course will give you the skills,knowledge and understanding to pursue employment as
education professionals. A full range of childcare topics are studied such as:
Child Health & Development » Play & Learning Safety » Research Skills
» Understanding different theory concerning early years
You learn by completing portfolios and assignments based on work placements . carried out
over 4 days every other week.
Moving on
Students go onto careers working with children, in nurseries, crèches, schools, throughout
Britain, There is also the opportunity to work in Europe and beyond in holiday companies and
cruise liners. Students can also progress to the Foundation Degree in Early Years which can be
studied at Calderdale College. Students can also progress to university.
