Qualification
Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 Health & Social Care
What will I study?
As an Apprentice in Health Care you could work in hospitals, the community, private clinics,
opticians or work as a personal care assistant helping someone in everyday life. You could
be supporting doctors or nurses in clinical roles or helping patients in hospital wards or their
homes. You will attend College for one day a week for the Technical Certificate and the Key
Skills elements of the programme. The assessments will take place in the workplace and at
College, where you will be supported by a skilled tutor/assessor.
Moving on
The NVQ work based element will offer a range of experiences in a health and social care
setting and offer opportunities to work alongside experienced practitioners from a variety of
fields. The Technical Certificate will provide the underpinning knowledge to build and transfer
theory into practice either in a work place setting or in College as day release. On successful
completion of Level 2, an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3 would build on the basic skills
from the Level 2 award.
