Intermediate Level 2 and Advanced Apprenticeship Level Sports Activity Leadership
What will I study?
Calderdale Training offers Intermediate Apprenticeships at Level 2 in Activity Leadership and
Operational Services with the opportunity to progress to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship
in Leisure Management and Sports Development.
As an Apprentice in the Sport and Leisure industry you will develop the skills required to
follow a career in sports and leisure activities. These will include leading physical activities,
operating services in a leisure centre or organisation, the development of sport in schools
and the community, the management of sport and leisure services. Career prospects are to be
found in a range of environments such as leisure centres, gyms, sports clubs and swimming
pools. You could be working anywhere where sport and active leisure is organised and
promoted. Aspects of the course include:
» Day release at College to support work-based training
» Sport and active leisure work at local leisure centres, sports clubs, community programmes
and gyms
» Training in all aspects of leading activities, services in leisure, development of
sport and management
» NVQ training at levels 2 or 3 as appropriate
» Supportive and qualified Assessors
» Supported training and on-site assessment Employment opportunities
Moving on
The course will give you a thorough introduction to the many aspects of the Sport and Leisure
industry. It will develop the skill base required to progress in the industry and give you the
grounding to progress to Level 3 and beyond. Ultimately you’ll move through the range of
qualifications to become a first class operative in the Sport and Leisure industry with the
opportunity to move on to managerial roles.
