1944 Marededéu de la Misericòrdia
de Vilamaniscle.
183 cm alçada.
Guix patinat.
Encara no tenia 17 anys ni gaire experiència, i m’enfrontava a
I still had not reached 17 nor had had much experience, and I
was facing a work of grand dimensions, of public responsibility
and religious communication. Everything overwhelmed me: the
weight, volume, and even having to move all the moulds myself.
It was a hard and cumbersome job and, in addition, then it was
difficult to understand even the task of integration of a sculpture
in a situation or in a type of architecture. My engine was
conventional in all senses of the word, and I couldn’t see my
way clear to the fact that art is, above all, a personal contribution.
I lived wrapped up in the moment and in an atmosphere
strongly influenced by the medium.
