Una franja de 60 cm d’alçada dóna la volta a tot l’edifici, i
separa els pisos de les botigues. Si bé al principi es va pensar
en una tira clara, em va semblar que les rajoles blanques s’optimitzaven
amb els dibuixos geomètrics i el joc amb el trencadís.
Per tal de valorar aquests dibuixos, al meu entendre, cal
donar-los en espais alterns. Una simple rajola trencada amb un
cop de martell és una riquesa, o bé trencant els quatre angles,
sumant les parts trencades simètricament o ordenant geometries
amb trencadís de rajoles. El camp és riquíssim a l’hora
d’anar teixint tota la franja. El fet que la rajola sigui blanca i el
ciment negrós marca el dibuix amb una intensitat que la converteix
en una obra en ceràmica diferent del que feren Gaudí o
Jujol.

A fringe of 60 cm high goes round the whole building and separates
the flats from the shops. If at first I thought of a light strip,
in the end it seemed to me that the white tiles, were optimized
with geometric drawings and the play with the ledge. In order
to bring out the best of these drawings, to my understanding, it
is necessary to put them in alternate spaces. A simple broken
tile with a hit of the hammer adds richness, or breaking the four
corners, putting together the broken parts symmetrically or
ordering geometries with mosaic trellis of tiles. The field is
extremely rich which it comes to texturing the whole fringe. The
fact that the tile is white and the cement black, frames the drawing
with an intensity which converts it into a different ceramic
work than those of Gaudí or Jujol.
