Si bé el valor espiritual rau en l’actitud de les persones en grup
o individualment, l’art n’és un catalitzador d’ambientació. En
aquest cas, d’un St. Sebastià que havia de presidir una ermita,
vaig pensar en el pretext manierista d’usar aquest sant per a
representar el cos nu. Però vaig sentir-me impulsat a fondre les
formes del cos en uns plans que s’enfilen, com una pregària.
Les postures històriques en el si de la religió són tantes que
voler-les frenar o estabilitzar per a l’esdevenidor seria un
empobriment religiós i cultural.

If it is true that spiritual value, resides in the attitude of the people
in a group or individually, art is still an atmospheric
catalyst. In this case, of a St Sebastian which had to preside in
a hermitage, I thought of the pretext of using this Saint to represent
the nude body. But I felt compelled to melt the forms of the
body into some planes which rose up, like a prayer. The historic
postures themselves of religion are so many that the future
waiting to put a brake or stabilise them, would be religious and
cultural impoverishment.
