Entre els primers contactes i els últims va transcórrer molt de
temps, dos anys llargs. Anades i vingudes dels arquitectes,
maquetes i més maquetes. En definitiva, la direcció de la
Sagrada Família partia d’una idea preestablerta i fixa, i era molt
difícil aportar-hi alguna cosa; semblava que estaven més interessats
en un artesà que posés les seves mans al servei dels
arquitectes que no pas en algú que volgués contribuir-hi amb
alguna cosa pròpia. Per tot això vaig desestimar l’encàrrec. Els
va doldre, però era estèril continuar.

Between the first contact and the last, much time passed, two
long years. Comings and goings of the architects, models and
more models. In the end, the management of the Sacred Family
had a previously established and fixed idea, and it was very difficult
to bring something to it; it seemed they were more interested
in the workman who puts his hands at the service of the
architects rather than someone who wanted to contribute
something themselves. For this reason I did not like this commission.
It hurt them, but it was sterile to continue.
