Fita ART INTEGRAT, 2005. - Fundació Fita

Els pescadors de Roses sentien la necessitat d’oferir
aquest monument a la seva vila, a la vegada que
volien recordar els seus avantpassats i donar un testimoni
de la vinculació de Roses a la tasca de la pesca.
Volien fer el que ja s’ha fet a tants altres llocs, aixecar
un símbol, tal com em van mostrar amb una postal
dels pescadors de la Corunya.
Van ser diversos els llocs que es van discutir per
situar-hi aquest conjunt, i les entrevistes i els contactes
asseguraven una bona sintonia. La idea de fer una
escultura de vidre, amb aquells motius d’exaltació a la
pesca amb vidres de color emplomats, era una cosa
nova, i els va entusiasmar. Naturalment, calia assessorament
en totes aquestes qüestions tècniques i de
resistència de l’aigua, la llum i altres materials. Es
tractava de fer una plaça on situar aquest símbol, i la
col·laboració amb l’Ajuntament, l’arquitecte i els tècnics
va ser estupenda. La idea de situar un obelisc
sobre l’aigua perquè es perdés la sensació de pes i on
es projectés el seu reflex li donaria un aspecte novedós.
The fishermen of Roses felt it necessary to offer this
monument to their town, at the same time as wishing
to remember their predecessors and bear witness to
the orientation of Roses to the work of fishing. They
wanted to do what so many others have done, put up
a symbol, just as I have shown with a postcard of the
fishermen of Corunya.
There were various places which were considered to
place this entity and the interviews and the contacts
assured harmony. The idea of doing a sculpture of
glass, with those motifs of exaltation of fishing with
coloured leaded glass, was something new, and they
were very keen. Naturally, it was necessary to assess
all these technical questions and resistance to water,
light and other materials. It concerned making a
square where this symbol would be placed, and the
collaboration with the Town Council, architect and
the technicians was superb. The idea of placing an
obelisk over water so as to lose the sensation of
weight and where its reflection would be projected,
would give it a completely new aspect.
