Hi havia a l’església un recambró de forma rectangular on
havia de ser col·locada la imatge de la Marededéu, en una alçada
i una llum previstes. El tema era Reina i Mare, Cor de Maria.
El títol de reina va evocar-me la corona i també el tron, que no
seria sinó les seves cames fent de puntals del setial. El nen
havia de situar-se en un lloc preferent, al costat dret o esquerre
de l’espectador, i entre mare i fill hi havia d’haver un lligam de
tendresa, filial i maternal: les corbes, més amables, no podien
faltar en aquesta imatge.
La meva intenció era deixar-la sense policromar, per tal que es
valorés al màxim la seva forma. Novament, part de la feligresia
no acceptava prou bé aquest resultat. Això fou motiu perquè,
en comissió, s’anés a veure el bisbe: ell va decidir que es
fes quelcom.
There was an alcove of rectangular form where there had to be
hung the image of the Mother of God, at a predetermined
height and light. The theme was Queen and Mother, heart of
Mary. The title of queen evoked in me the crown and also the
throne, which would not be if her legs were not the supports of
the seat. The boy had to be situated in a preferred place, on the
right or left side of the spectator and between mother and son
there had to be a link of tenderness, filial and maternal:: les
curves, kindnesses, could not be left out of this image. My
intention was to leave it without polychrome, so as to bring out
to the maximum, the form. Part of the parishioners did not
accept this finish very well. This was the reason, in commission,
for going to see the bishop: he decided that someone
would do it.
