Sant Raimon, Sant Joaquim, Sant Albert i Sant Alexandre. Es
tractava d’esculpir els sants corresponents als noms dels fills de
la persona que va fer l’encàrrec, amb la Marededéu al centre.
Aquesta obra trasllueix una realitat corrent: hom es crea, fins i
tot sense voler-ho, uns hàbits de llenguatge que donen seguretat.
Això condueix un esperit inquiet com el meu al cansament
i a la insatisfacció d’abandonar altres exigències, com si el
mateix al qual ens aferrem denunciés la poca consistència de
l’aportació personal, per més que, per part del client, l’obra i
l’estil siguin ben rebuts. Generalment estimem de l’artista
aquest llenguatge que fa fàcil reconèixer-li les obres i que, en
molts casos, no és sinó un defecte de repetició i d’amanerament,
de fugida de plantejaments nous. L’art té la funció d’augmentar
i engrandir qui el fa i qui el rep.
Saint Raimon, Saint Joaquim, Saint Albert I Saint Alexander. It
is about sculpting the corresponding Saints to the names of the
sons of people who made the order, with the Mother of God in
the centre. This work transmits a current reality; one creates,
even without wanting to, linguistic habits which give security.
This leads a restless spirit like mine to tiredness and the dissatisfaction
of abandoning other demands, as if the thing we cling
to denies the small consistency of personal contribution....
Generally what we love about the artist is this language which
makes recognising his works easy, which in many cases, is nothing
more than a defect of repetition and mannerism, hiding
from new ideas. Art has the function of augmenting and
aggrandizing those who do it, and those who receive it.
