1. Introduction<br />
• A NI or GB Driving licence with the appropriate entitlement; or<br />
• A full car licence issued by <strong>an</strong> EU/EEA member state. A Northern Irel<strong>an</strong>d or GB<br />
counterpart, issued by DVA or DVLA (GB licensing authority), containing<br />
mo<strong>to</strong>rcycle provisional entitlement must support such a licence.<br />
Both parts of the licence (pho<strong>to</strong> card & counterpart) must be produced on arrival<br />
<strong>an</strong>d the course should not commence until both have been checked for correct<br />
entitlement.<br />
An instruc<strong>to</strong>r may be deemed <strong>to</strong> have aided <strong>an</strong>d abetted a Road Traffic Offence if,<br />
during a CBT course, they accomp<strong>an</strong>y a learner on-road who does not hold the<br />
necessary provisional entitlement.<br />
Suitability of CBT mo<strong>to</strong>rcycle/moped<br />
CBT courses may be completed on:<br />
• a moped or mo<strong>to</strong>rcycle; or<br />
• a mo<strong>to</strong>rcycle-sidecar combination; or<br />
• a moped that has more th<strong>an</strong> two wheels; or<br />
• a moped or mo<strong>to</strong>rcycle with au<strong>to</strong>matic tr<strong>an</strong>smission.<br />
The CBT pass certificate records whether the <strong>training</strong> was completed on <strong>an</strong><br />
au<strong>to</strong>matic mo<strong>to</strong>rcycle <strong>an</strong>d/or one with more th<strong>an</strong> two wheels <strong>an</strong>d will validate<br />
provisional entitlement accordingly.<br />
Use of fluorescent apparel during <strong>training</strong><br />
It is a legal requirement <strong>an</strong>d a condition of your authority <strong>to</strong> deliver CBT (see<br />
appendix 1) that <strong>instruc<strong>to</strong>rs</strong> <strong>an</strong>d pupils wear appropriate fluorescent or reflective<br />
safety apparel, throughout the duration of a CBT course.<br />
Instruc<strong>to</strong>r <strong>to</strong> pupil ratios<br />
The following <strong>training</strong> ratios must be applied throughout <strong>an</strong>y CBT course:<br />

A maximum of four pupils <strong>to</strong> one instruc<strong>to</strong>r must be observed if the <strong>training</strong> is offroad,<br />
however, if the <strong>training</strong> is being delivered on-road the ratio c<strong>an</strong> not exceed<br />
