Matapanes Orozco y Berra (1:335) connects these with the Tehueco<br />

division of the Yaqui group, but does not include the name<br />

in his list of languages. (See remarks under Biaris, above.)<br />

Mejuos Given by Orozco y Berra (1:327) in connection with the<br />

Concho. He says (1:325): "La tribu hablaba la lengua<br />

particular llamada Concha: mas no solo eran los Conchos<br />

quienes las componian, eino otra porcion de familias que<br />

usando el mismo idioma llevaban distintos nombres. Log<br />

primeros que se presentan son los Mejuos;" [etc.]. No au-<br />

thority has been discovered for this statement, which it<br />

seems he applies also to the Tapacolmes, Anchanes, Julimes,<br />

Cholomos, Mezquites, Cacalotes, Oposines, Conejos, Polames,<br />

Sivolos, Puliquis, and Pasalmes. For the Mejuos<br />

he refers to Alegre (ii, 58), but turning to the latter author<br />

we find he merely speaks of drawing into the mission at<br />

San Pedro "more than two hundred families of Conchos,<br />

Mejuos, and other nations." Orozco y Berra does not give<br />

the name Mejuos in his list of languages.<br />

Hoabonoma.<br />

Opas Yuman, in United States. Synonym or abbreviation of<br />

Maricopa.<br />

Oposines One of the names given by Orozco y Berra under Concho<br />

(1:55,327). (See remarks under Mejuos, above.)<br />

Orejones Belong to Faraon Apache.<br />

Oronihuatos Given in Orozco y Berra's list with reference to Sinaloa, but<br />

it is not found under that head, nor elsewhere so far as dis-<br />

covered. Possibly a misprint.<br />

Otaquitamones Connected by Orozco y BeiTa (1:325) with the Concho.<br />

(See remarks under Mejuos, above.)<br />

Pajalames Same remark as under Otaquitamones.<br />

Panana Given by Orozco y Berra as connected with the Faraon Apache.<br />

The Handbook of American Indians (pt. 2, 216) gives it as<br />

a synonym of Pawnee.<br />

Pasalmes Found in the same connection as Pajalame, and is probably a<br />

synonym.<br />

Payuchas Paiute in L^nited States.<br />

Pazuchis (Paxuchis). . Given as connected with the Faraon Apache, but are Paiute.<br />

Piatos Given by Orozco y Berra (1:58, 353) as an Upper Pima<br />

subtribe in Sonora. According to The Handbook of American<br />

Indians (pt. 2, 241) a branch of the Papago.<br />

Poarames Given in connection with the Concho. (See remark under<br />

Mejuos, above.)<br />

Polames Same as Poarames, above.<br />

Pulicas (Puliques) Same as Poarames.<br />
