The NSW Government may attempt to voluntarily<br />
acquire leases using approaches coordinated with the<br />
NPWS purchase strategy. Funding to be sought for the<br />
purchase <strong>of</strong> leasehold l<strong>and</strong>s.<br />
Any areas for which leases are purchased must be<br />
incorporated by gazettal into the NPWS estate as soon<br />
as practicable.<br />

Pursue the voluntary purchase <strong>of</strong> any leases on State<br />
forest tenure that have been revoked.<br />
Minister for Fisheries may declare aquatic reserves<br />

Crown l<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> develop management arrangements<br />
for these reserves.<br />

Acquisitions are ongoing. DECC received a Treasury commitment <strong>of</strong> $1.5 million/year for five years (2001–2002 to 2005–2006) to<br />
purchase leasehold <strong>and</strong> freehold l<strong>and</strong>s as required by the UNE <strong>and</strong> LNE forest agreements As allocated funding has now been<br />
expended, no further reporting will occur. Lease purchases will continue but will be considered as part <strong>of</strong> DECC’s normal acquisition<br />
program.<br />
