<strong>and</strong> Nymboi–Binderay NP) fall within both LNE <strong>and</strong> UNE <strong>and</strong> the 3924 ha (3600 ha <strong>and</strong> 324 ha,<br />

respectively) <strong>of</strong> these parks experiencing wildfire have been counted in both these regions. One park<br />

experiencing wildfire (Wadbilliga NP) falls within both Southern <strong>and</strong> Eden <strong>and</strong> the 8 ha <strong>of</strong> this park<br />

experiencing wildfire have been counted in both these regions.<br />

In 2004–2005 <strong>and</strong> 2006–<strong>2007</strong>, the approach to bushfire management <strong>and</strong> the effect <strong>of</strong> fire<br />

management on Parks were reported on for all regions using data from the SoP qualitative assessment<br />

so as to align the two reporting processes. A SoP survey did not occur in <strong>2007</strong>–<strong>2008</strong> so this<br />

information was not collected for this indicator.<br />

The total area <strong>of</strong> native forest within State Forests affected by bushfire decreased from 9969 ha in<br />

2006–<strong>2007</strong> down to 5081 ha in <strong>2007</strong>–<strong>2008</strong>. The regions most affected by bushfire were UNE region<br />

with 4535 ha affected, <strong>and</strong> LNE region with 513 ha affected. Only 1 ha <strong>of</strong> bushfires was reported in<br />

Southern Region representing five incidents, all <strong>of</strong> which were within planted forests estate. There were<br />

332 ha <strong>of</strong> recorded bushfires in the Eden region this year, also representing five fire incidents.<br />

Combined areas burnt by bushfire are reported in Figure 2-3B<br />
