5-14 BASIC INSTRUMENT PROCEDURES<br />

1) 200 KIAS in straight and level flight.<br />

2) Slow toward 150 KIAS by reducing power<br />

to 20% torque.<br />

3) Maintain 150 KIAS.<br />

4) Make a SRT to the right for 90° of<br />

heading change.<br />

5) Start the clock and begin timing for two<br />

minutes.<br />

6) Descend for 1000’ by reducing the torque<br />

to 15%.<br />

7) Level-off at 150 KIAS.<br />

8) At the end of two minutes timing, turn left<br />

for a heading change of 210°.<br />

9) Make a descending transition to BAC:<br />

a) Reducing power to 15% torque,<br />

check airspeed below 150 KIAS,<br />

lower the gear and set flaps to TO.<br />

b) Slow the aircraft to 120 KIAS,<br />

descend for 1000’.<br />

c) Level-off and maintain 120 KIAS.<br />

10) Reset and start the clock, begin a<br />

descent for 1000’.<br />

11) Level-off and maintain 120 KIAS.<br />

12) At the end of two minutes timing, execute<br />

a Missed Approach.<br />

13) Maintain 180 KIAS and climb for 2000’.<br />

14) 200’ prior to level-off, commence a<br />

transition back to 200 KIAS cruise.
