806. INSTRUMENT APPROACH BRIEF<br />

Prior to commencing an instrument approach, the student will brief the instructor on the<br />

particulars of the approach. The brief should include the following:<br />

1. Approach name and page number.<br />

2. NAVAIDS required.<br />

3. Course to set in CDI.<br />

4. Weather minimums.<br />

5. Segment altitudes, including decision height (DH) and minimum descent altitude (MDA).<br />

6. Timing.<br />

7. Missed Approach or Climbout instructions.<br />

8. Unusual or other noteworthy items peculiar to the approach.<br />

Each instrument approach plate consists of five sections:<br />

1. Pilot Briefing Information<br />

2. Plan view<br />

3. Profile view<br />

4. Landing minima section<br />

5. Aerodrome sketch<br />
