E. Fabricate <strong>and</strong> install split-lead flashings incorporating a water-tight rain collar at heat stacks.<br />
F. Furnish the specified edge metal <strong>and</strong> coping systems to match the existing <strong>and</strong> install in<br />
strict accordance with the roofing manufacturer's specifications <strong>and</strong> details.<br />
G. Provide <strong>and</strong> install new counter flashing on all walls <strong>and</strong> curbs.<br />
H. Furnish <strong>and</strong> install Chem-Curbs at all unistruts.<br />
I. Submit a unit cost per drain to lower them down to the metal deck if necessary.<br />
J. Where necessary, Remove stucco to provide a minimum 8” flashing height. Mechanically<br />
fasten 1/2 inch plywood to the studs. Install stucco stop <strong>and</strong> new stucco to match existing.<br />
K. Provide ceramic granule anti-skid surfacing ( <strong>Library</strong> Mechanical Well). Layout to be<br />
discussed during the pre-bid meeting.<br />
RELATED WORK FOR MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT REQUIRING ALTERATION DURING<br />
REROOFING OPERATIONS<br />
A. Ducts <strong>and</strong> related sheet metal items such as plenums shall be designed, fabricated,<br />
insulated, constructed, <strong>and</strong> sealed according to the requirements detailed in the most recent<br />
edition of the HVAC Duct Construction St<strong>and</strong>ards as published by SMACNA. In addition,<br />
the following general guidelines by SMACNA should be considered:<br />
1. All ducts that are not watertight through the use of welded construction or protective<br />
shields <strong>and</strong> are exposed to weather <strong>and</strong> solar radiation shall have secure watertight<br />
mechanical connections <strong>and</strong> receive exterior duct sealant treatment as defined in the<br />
following paragraph.<br />
2. Exterior duct sealant treatment shall consist of the supplemental application of a product<br />
or products marketed specifically as forming a positive air <strong>and</strong> watertight seal, bonding<br />
well to the metal involved, remaining watertight with metal movement <strong>and</strong> having a<br />
suitable service temperature range. If exposed to direct sunlight, the sealant treatment<br />
should be ultraviolet ray <strong>and</strong> ozone resistant <strong>and</strong> should, after curing, be painted with a<br />
compatible coating that provides that resistance. The term "sealant" is not limited to<br />
materials of adhesive or mastic nature but is inclusive of tapes <strong>and</strong> combinations of<br />
woven fabric strips <strong>and</strong> mastics. Asphalt based compounds are not approved for sealing<br />
ductwork.<br />
3. Unless otherwise prescribed by the equipment manufacturer, ducts <strong>and</strong> related sheet<br />
metal items shall be attached to equipment with mechanical fasteners supplemented<br />
with exterior duct sealant treatment as defined in the above paragraph. The attachment<br />
method shall accommodate disconnection if this is required for routine maintenance of<br />
the equipment.<br />
4. Where vibration dampening isolation material is required at the connection of ducts to<br />
equipment, such material shall be watertight.<br />
5. Roof penetrations by ducts shall utilize counterflashed curbs which are constructed<br />
according to NRCA st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong> counterflashed as directed by the roofing material<br />
manufacturer.<br />
