GENERAL CONDITIONS
ARTICLE 1: DEFINITIONS; GENERAL
1.1 Architect. The Architect is the person or entity identified as such in the Agreement; references to the
"Architect" includes the Architect's authorized representative and his, her or its successor(s).
1.2 Construction Equipment. "Construction Equipment" is equipment utilized for the performance of any
portion of the Work, but which is not incorporated into the Work.
1.3 Contract Documents. The Contract Documents consist of the Agreement between the District and the
Contractor, Conditions of the Contract (whether General, Special or otherwise), Drawings, Specifications, including
addenda thereto issued prior to execution of the Agreement and any other documents listed in the Agreement. The
Contract Documents shall include modifications issued after execution of the Agreement. The Contract Documents
form the Contract for Construction.
1.4 Contract Document Terms. The term "provide" means "provide complete in place" or to "furnish and
install" such item. Unless otherwise provided in the Contract Documents, the terms "approved;" "directed;"
"satisfactory;" "accepted;" "acceptable;" "proper;" "required;" "necessary" and "equal" shall mean as approved,
directed, satisfactory, accepted, acceptable, proper, required, necessary and equal, in the opinion of the District, its
agents or representatives. The term "typical" as used in the Drawings shall require the installation or furnishing of
such item(s) of the Work designated as "typical" in all other similar areas; Work in such other areas shall conform to
that shown as "typical" or as reasonably inferable therefrom.
1.5 Contractor. The Contractor is the person or entity identified as such in the Agreement; references to
"Contractor" include the Contractor's authorized representative.
1.6 Contractor's Superintendent. The Contractor's Superintendent is the individual employed by the
Contractor whose principal responsibility shall be the supervision and coordination of the Work; the Contractor's
Superintendent shall not perform routine construction labor.
1.7 Days. Unless otherwise expressly stated, references to "days" in the Contract Documents shall be deemed
to be calendar days.
1.8 Deferred Approval Items. Deferred approval items are those items that shall not be started until detailed
plans, specifications, and engineering calculations have been accepted and signed by the Architect or Engineer.
1.9 District. The "District" refers to Citrus Community College District and its authorized representatives,
including the Project Manager, the District's Board of Trustees and the District’s officers, employees, agents and
representatives.
1.10 District's Inspector. The District's Inspector is the individual designated and employed by the District in
accordance with the requirements of Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations. The District's Inspector shall be
authorized to act on behalf of the District as provided for in the Contract Documents and in Title 24 of the California
Code of Regulations, as the same may be amended from time to time.
1.11 Division of State Architect ("DSA"). The DSA is the California Division of the State Architect including
without limitation the DSA's Office of Construction Services, Office of Design Services and the Office of Regulation
Services; references to the DSA in the Contract Documents shall mean the DSA, its offices and its authorized
employees and agents. The authority of the DSA over the Work and the performance thereof shall be as set forth
in the Contract Documents and Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations.
1.12 Drawings and Specifications. The Drawings are the graphic and pictorial portions of the Contract
Documents, wherever located and whenever issued, showing generally, the design, location and dimensions of the
Work and may include without limitation, plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, notes or diagrams. The
Specifications are that portion of the Contract Documents consisting of the written requirements for materials,
