6. All penetrations into ducts shall be sealed water-tight. Attachment of supports shall use<br />

a minimum number of duct penetrations.<br />

7. Duct systems shall not be pressurized without sufficient time for curing of sealant<br />

systems. Follow sealant manufacturer's recommendations for application of the sealant.<br />

8. Adequate clearances between ducts <strong>and</strong> roof penetration openings shall be provided.<br />

9. Ducts shall be supported to avoid transfer of duct weight across flexible connections.<br />

10. Horizontal ducts shall be pitched <strong>and</strong> provided with drainage outlets as required.<br />

11. Ducts shall be installed at a height sufficient to provide for the minimum flashing height<br />

as specified by the roofing system manufacturer.<br />

B. Electrical connections for related rooftop equipment shall be accomplished according to<br />

local building codes <strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ards, <strong>and</strong> the following requirements:<br />

1. Whenever possible, electrical conduit shall be run to the unit inside the roof curb.<br />

2. Electrical conduit connections made to exposed junction boxes on units shall be made<br />

on the bottom of the box. Installation shall comply with local code requirements <strong>and</strong><br />

industry st<strong>and</strong>ards. The installation shall be watertight.<br />

3. Where an external electrical junction box is not used, watertight fittings shall be used at<br />

the panel joint. If electrical conduit passes through a hole in the panel, that joint shall be<br />

made watertight.<br />

4. Where electrical conduit passes through the roof, the conduit shall be properly anchored<br />

<strong>and</strong> flashed. See METAL PIPE FLASHING DETAIL.<br />

1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE<br />

A. Acceptable Products: Primary roofing products, including each type of sheet, all<br />

manufactured in the United States, shall be supplied by a single manufacturer which has<br />

been successfully producing the specified types of primary products for not less than 10<br />

years. The primary roofing products shall have maintained a consistent composition for a<br />

minimum of five years.<br />

B. Product Quality Assurance Program: Primary roofing materials shall be manufactured<br />

under a quality management system that is monitored regularly by a third party auditor<br />

under the ISO 9001 audit process. A certificate of analysis for reporting/confirming the<br />

tested values of the actual material being supplied for the project will be required prior to<br />

project close-out.<br />

C. Agency Approvals: The proposed roof system shall conform to the following requirements.<br />

No other testing agency approvals will be accepted.<br />

1. Underwriters Laboratories Class A acceptance of the proposed roofing system (including<br />

mopping asphalt or cold adhesive) without additional requirements for gravel or coatings.<br />
