coordination of the Work <strong>and</strong> component parts thereof so that Substantial Completion of the Work will be<br />
achieved within the Contract Time <strong>and</strong> the Work will be completed for the Contract Price. The coordination<br />
of the Work is a material obligation of the Contractor hereunder <strong>and</strong> shall include without limitation,<br />
conducting regular coordination meetings with its Subcontractors <strong>and</strong> Material Suppliers, sequencing the<br />
operations of Subcontractors <strong>and</strong> Material Suppliers, <strong>and</strong> adapting its planned means, methods <strong>and</strong><br />
sequences of construction operations as necessary to accommodate field or changed conditions at the<br />
Site. These meetings are to be held at minimum once each month. Meeting notes shall be forwarded to the<br />
District Project Manager within seven days of each meeting. District Project Manager <strong>and</strong> Project Inspector<br />
will attend the coordination meetings.<br />
4.4.3 Surveys. The Contractor shall prepare or cause to be prepared all detailed surveys necessary for<br />
performance of the Work. The Contractor shall be responsible for the establishment, location, maintenance<br />
<strong>and</strong> preservation of benchmarks, reference points <strong>and</strong> stakes for the Work, the cost of which shall be<br />
included within the Contract Price. The Contractor shall be solely responsible for all loss or costs resulting<br />
from the loss, destruction, disturbance or damage of benchmarks, reference points or stakes.<br />
4.4.4 Construction Utilities. The Contractor shall arrange for the furnishing of <strong>and</strong> shall pay the costs of<br />
all utility services, including, without limitation, electricity, water, gas <strong>and</strong> telephone necessary for<br />
performance of the Work <strong>and</strong> the Contractor's obligations under the Contract Documents. The Contractor<br />
shall furnish <strong>and</strong> install necessary or appropriate temporary distributions of utilities, including meters, to the<br />
Site. Any such temporary distributions shall be removed by the Contractor upon completion of the Work.<br />
The costs of all such utility services, including the installation <strong>and</strong> removal of temporary distributions<br />
thereof, shall be borne by the Contractor <strong>and</strong> included in the Contract Price.<br />
4.4.5 Existing Utilities; Removal, Relocation <strong>and</strong> Protection. In accordance with California<br />
Government Code §4215, the District shall assume the responsibility for the timely removal, relocation, or<br />
protection of existing main or trunkline utility facilities located on the Site which are not identified in the<br />
Drawings, Specifications or other Contract Documents. Contractor shall be compensated for the costs of<br />
locating, repairing damage not due to the Contractor's failure to exercise reasonable care, <strong>and</strong> removing or<br />
relocating such utility facilities not indicated in the Drawings, Specifications <strong>and</strong> other Contract Documents<br />
with reasonable accuracy, <strong>and</strong> for equipment on the Site necessarily idled during such work. Contractor<br />
shall not be assessed Liquidated Damages for delay in completion of the Work when such delay is caused<br />
by the failure of the District or the utility district to provide for removal or relocation of such utility facilities.<br />
Nothing in this Article 4.4.5 shall be deemed to require the District to indicate the presence of existing<br />
service laterals or appurtenances whenever the presence of such utilities on the Site can be inferred from<br />
the presence of other visible facilities, such as buildings, meters <strong>and</strong> junction boxes, on or adjacent to the<br />
Site. If the Contractor encounters utility facilities not identified by the District in the Drawings,<br />
Specifications, or other Contract Documents, the Contractor shall immediately notify, in writing, the District<br />
<strong>and</strong> the utility owner. In the event that such utility facilities are owned by a public utility, the public utility<br />
shall have the sole discretion to perform repairs or relocation work or permit the Contractor to do such<br />
repairs or relocation work at a price determined in accordance with Article 9 of these General Conditions.<br />
4.4.6 Conferences <strong>and</strong> Meetings A material obligation of the Contractor under the Contract Documents<br />
is the attendance by the Contractor's supervisory personnel for the Work <strong>and</strong> the Contractor's management<br />
personnel as required by the Contract Documents or as requested by the District. The Contractor's<br />
personnel participating in conferences <strong>and</strong> meetings relating to the Work shall be authorized to act on<br />
behalf of the Contractor <strong>and</strong> to bind the Contractor. The Contractor is solely responsible for arranging for<br />
the attendance by Subcontractors, Material Suppliers at meetings <strong>and</strong> conferences relating to the Work as<br />
necessary, appropriate or as requested by the District.<br />
