32 The Co-operative logotype Businesses without a high street presence follow the same descriptive architecture. These colourways have been strategically designed to lend order to the businesses whilst retaining a sense of each of their individual identities. Individual non-high street descriptive logotypes Our logotype has been extended so that each business has ownership of its own variant: its descriptor. Each business that has a high street presence has an individual colour and the descriptor should always appear in that colour (see colours section). When a business doesn’t have a high-street presence, these will share a limited colour palette (see colours section). For instance, cruises and 2colour version logotype & bee 1 line PMS 130 childcare above: two totally different businesses but sharing Travel’s orange to indicate fun and warmth. These businesses also adhere directly to the rules defined for the ‘good for everyone’ strapline. When using this strapline, it must be presented in the Masterbrand or relevent business colour. For example, when used in a Foundation communication, ‘good for everyone’ can appear in that designated gray (PMS © Warm gray 6 – see colours section).
If you’re printing an item in just two colours, and you can specify them both, then use the colour version of the logotype shown. In this case both colours print as special inks. ‘The Co-operative’ will print PMS © 2757c whilst ‘farms’ prints PMS © 375c. However if you are printing a two colour item, and one of those colours is already specified as black, then use the single colour black and white version of the logotype. In this case the business descriptor (eg: ‘food’) is a 40% tint of black. The Co-operative logotype 33
