42 The Co-operative logotype 4 5 4 Third-party use There will be times when the logotype will be required to appear in a line-up alongside other logotypes. When this is the instance, we apply an exclusion zone around the logotype to protect it. We have kept the exclusion zone around our logotype very simple. The zone should always be the same width as the total depth of the logotype. So, if you’re using the logotype and its total depth (from the top of the capital ‘T’ to the bottom of the lower case ‘p’) is 10mm, then the exclusion zone is 10mm either side, above and below. 5 Black and white endorsement When our logotype appears in a black and white publication, as an endorsement, you are to use the Masterbrand logotype and strapline. This is to increase the visual prominence of our logotype when seen alongside other logotypes. The same exclusion zones apply as number 4, third-party use. The use of black as a business colour is also permitted on black and white communications, such as press-ads (see Funeralcare ad, example B).
