DES-3526 / DES-3526DC Fast Ethernet Layer 2 Switch<br />

From States the IP address of the origin of the firmware. There are five ways firmware may<br />

be downloaded to the Switch.<br />

• R – If the IP address has this letter attached to it, it denotes a firmware<br />

upgrade through the Console Serial Port (RS-232).<br />

• T - If the IP address has this letter attached to it, it denotes a firmware<br />

upgrade through Telnet.<br />

• S - If the IP address has this letter attached to it, it denotes a firmware<br />

upgrade through the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).<br />

• W - If the IP address has this letter attached to it, it denotes a firmware<br />

upgrade through the web-based management interface.<br />

• SIM – If the IP address has this letter attached to it, it denotes a firmware<br />

upgrade through the Single IP Management feature.<br />

User States the user who downloaded the firmware. This field may read “Anonymous” or<br />

“Unknown” for users that are not identified.<br />

Config Firmware Image<br />

The Config Firmware Image window allows users to configure firmware images saved in the<br />

memory of the Switch. To access the following window, click Maintenance > MULTIPLE IMAGE<br />

Services > Config Firmware Image.<br />

This window offers the following information:<br />

Parameter Description<br />

Image Select the firmware image to be configured using the pull-down menu. The Switch<br />

allows two firmware images to be stored in the Switch’s memory.<br />

Action This field has two options for configuration.<br />

Click Apply to implement changes made.<br />

• Delete – Select this option to delete the firmware image specified in the<br />

Image field above.<br />

• Boot – Select this option to set the firmware image specified above as the<br />

boot up firmware for the Switch. This firmware will be set as the boot up<br />

firmware after a switch reboot has been performed. The default setting has<br />

firmware image ID 1 as the boot up firmware image for the Switch unless<br />

specified here.<br />
