Medical Terminology • 1 CR<br />

Presents a systematic approach to medical terminology,<br />

combining word roots, prefixes, and suffixes.<br />

Prerequisite: Acceptance into program or permission<br />

Introduction to<br />

Sectional Anatomy • 2 CR<br />

Expands knowledge of anatomy through the introduction<br />

of transverse and sagittal orientations. Students<br />

review normal anatomy of the brain, chest,<br />

abdomen, pelvis, and neck and spine. Prerequisite:<br />

Acceptance into program.<br />

RATEC 207<br />

Concept Integration • 2 CR<br />

Prepares students for the American Registry of Radiologic<br />

Technologists exam through a comprehensive<br />

review. Prerequisite: Acceptance into program<br />

or permission of instructor.<br />

RATEC 210<br />

Clinical Education V • 13 CR<br />

Fifth in a series of supervised clinical education<br />

experiences. Students work 40 hours per week for<br />

11 weeks. Specific performance objectives are established<br />

for the student. Prerequisite: Acceptance<br />

into program or permission of instructor.<br />

Sixth in a series of supervised clinical education<br />

experiences. Students work at clinical sites, 24<br />

Pathology I • 3 CR<br />

Introduces changes that occur in disease and injury,<br />

with application to radiologic technology.<br />

Topics include respiratory, skeletal, gastrointestinal,<br />

and urinary systems. Prerequisite: Acceptance<br />

into program or permission of instructor.<br />

Pathology II • 2 CR<br />

Continues RATEC 220. Students become familiar<br />

with the etiology, symptoms, prognosis, and imaging<br />

of disease processes of the cardiovascular, nervous,<br />

hemoparetic, endocrine, and reproductive<br />

systems. Prerequisite: Acceptance into program or<br />

permission of instructor.<br />

RATEC 230<br />

Quality Assurance • 2 CR<br />

Presents theory and practice for operating a successful<br />

quality assurance program in a diagnostic<br />

radiology department. Students discuss the importance<br />

of quality control with respect to health care<br />

costs, radiation exposure to patients, and improvement<br />

of the diagnostic quality of films. Prerequisite:<br />

Acceptance into program or permission of instructor.<br />

RATEC 240<br />

Radiation Biology & Protection • 3 CR<br />

Explores types of radiation, interaction of radiation<br />

with matter, and the effects of those interactions<br />

in human tissue. Students learn methods and<br />

principles of radiation protection for both patient<br />

and technologist. Prerequisite: Acceptance into<br />

program or permission of instructor.<br />

Special Topics in Radiology • V1-5 CR<br />

Allows study of special topics that may be necessary<br />

to update students in the field of radiologic<br />

technology. Prerequisite: Acceptance into program<br />

or permission of instructor.<br />

CONTINUING EDUCATION<br />

R EST 130<br />

Principles of Real Estate • 5 CR<br />

Entry-level course in real estate designed for buyers,<br />

sellers, investors, and those persons desirous of<br />

obtaining a real estate salesperson license. Fulfills<br />

the Washington State 60 clock-hour “fundamentals”<br />

requirement and prepares the student for the<br />

Washington State Real Estate Salesperson Exam.<br />

Covers legal titles and instruments, finance, appraisal,<br />

contracts, agency and land economics.<br />

R EST 130 is recommended prior to taking any<br />

other real estate course.<br />

R EST 131<br />

Real Estate Finance • 3 CR<br />

Students learn the policies, problems, and methods<br />

involved in financing real property. Covers loans<br />

and lenders, debt and security, money markets, financing<br />

alternatives, and institutional and governmental<br />

sources of funds. Recommended: R EST 130.<br />

R EST 133<br />

Real Estate Law • 3 CR<br />

Introduces common law and Washington statutes<br />

governing real estate. Other topics include acquisition,<br />

encumbrances, transfer, and rights and obligations<br />

of the parties. Course is required for those<br />

seeking a Washington State Brokers License. Recommended:<br />

R EST 130.<br />

R EST 134<br />

Real Estate Sales Practices • 3 CR<br />

Essentials of salesmanship and advertising specifically<br />

as it relates to real estate. Students learn the<br />

qualification of clientele, listings, sales techniques<br />

and agreements, agency relationships, and time<br />

management.<br />

R EST 135<br />

Real Estate Forecasting &<br />

Economics • 3 CR<br />

Economic principles, projecting tools, and data<br />

sources are applied to the forecasting of supply and<br />

demand in the real estate market. Deals with the<br />

effects of growth management legislation, environmental<br />

factors, and other impacts on real estate<br />

values. Recommended: R EST 130.
