Admissions<br />

Eligibility<br />

<strong>Bellevue</strong> Community <strong>College</strong> admits:<br />

1. High school graduates and adults 18 years of<br />

age or older.<br />

2. Currently enrolled high school students who<br />

successfully assess into college-level English.<br />

However, these students are admitted quarterby-quarter<br />

and are not considered “continuing<br />

students” unless they have been admitted<br />

through the Running Start Program.<br />

3. Selected applicants who meet the qualifications<br />

for selective-admissions programs. Some<br />

selective-admissions programs have enrollment<br />

limits and cannot accept all qualified<br />

applicants (see below).<br />

Application Process<br />

General admissions: new students<br />

To gain general admission to <strong>Bellevue</strong> Community<br />

<strong>College</strong>, prospective students are required to<br />

complete the application for admission, available<br />

in high school offices, at the BCC Student Service<br />

Center, and on the website (www.bcc.ctc.edu). New<br />

students will be admitted to <strong>Bellevue</strong> Community<br />

<strong>College</strong> in the order in which their admissions<br />

forms are received. If the student has attended<br />

other colleges or universities, official transcripts<br />

are NOT REQUIRED until he/she applies for graduation<br />

or requests an official evaluation of transferred-in<br />

credits.<br />

Official transcripts are required ONLY when<br />

the student applies for graduation or for an official<br />

evaluation of credits. Official transcripts that are<br />

submitted with an admission application are returned<br />

to the student and become an unofficial<br />

transcript.<br />

General admissions recommended<br />

deadlines are:<br />

Summer - May 31<br />

Fall - July 31<br />

Winter - November 15<br />

Spring - February 28<br />

Selective-admission programs:<br />

Students applying for selective-admissions degree<br />

or certificate programs must meet the application<br />

deadlines and entrance requirements and<br />

follow the guidelines prescribed by the specific<br />

program.<br />

The following selective-admissions programs accept<br />

new students for Fall Quarter only:<br />

■ Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology<br />

■ Nuclear Medicine Technology<br />

■ Nursing<br />

■ Radiation Therapy<br />

■ Radiologic Technology<br />

The following selective-admissions programs accept<br />

new students throughout the year:<br />

■ Fast Track Technology<br />

■ Translation & Interpretation<br />

Formerly enrolled students<br />

In order to regain admission, students who<br />

have not attended <strong>Bellevue</strong> Community <strong>College</strong> for<br />

two consecutive quarters (excluding Summer<br />

Quarter) must submit a new admission form. A<br />

student who takes a one-quarter leave has continuing<br />

student status.<br />

International students<br />

The college is authorized under federal law to<br />

enroll non-immigrants. International students may<br />

enroll in either the college credit programs (provided<br />

they meet the selective admissions requirements)<br />

or in the Intensive English/University Preparation<br />

(UP) program. International students on F-1<br />

or M-1 visas are required to complete a minimum of<br />

12 quarter college credits or 18-20 hours of intensive<br />

English instruction each quarter.<br />

International students are admitted to the college<br />

credit programs upon meeting the following<br />

requirements (students 16-18 years old must also<br />

submit a completed and notarized Student Release<br />

Form with proof of high school graduation):<br />

■ a completed and signed International Student<br />

Application form with a non-refundable application<br />

fee of $50 U.S. dollars;<br />

Enrollment Information<br />

■ proof of English language proficiency in one of<br />

the following ways:<br />

1. a TOEFL score of 500 (Paper-Based) or 173<br />

(Computer-Based); OR<br />

2. two years of non-ESL English courses in a<br />

U.S. high school or U.S. International<br />

School with a GPA of 2.5 or above on a<br />

4.0 scale; OR<br />

3. successful completion of BCC’s Intensive<br />

English Level 5 and a passing score on the<br />

waiver exam; OR<br />

4. successful completion of BCC’s English<br />

<strong>College</strong> Bridge program with a minimum<br />

of 2.5; OR<br />

5. successful completion of the highest level<br />

at other Intensive English Programs<br />

(minimum of B average) and successful<br />

completion of BCC’s <strong>College</strong> Bridge<br />

program<br />

■ official transcripts, with official translations in<br />

English, with a recommended GPA of 2.5 on a<br />

4.0 scale;<br />

■ certification of financial support;<br />

■ one passport-sized photograph (2" x 2");<br />

■ a one-page essay written by the applicant in<br />

English describing his/her academic and career<br />

goals;<br />

■ one letter of recommendation written by a<br />

teacher, advisor, or employer;<br />

■ a copy of the applicant’s passport, if available.<br />

International students are admitted to the Intensive<br />

English/University Preparation program<br />

upon meeting the following requirements (students<br />

16-18 years old must also submit a completed<br />

and notarized Student Release Form with<br />

proof of high school graduation):<br />

■ a completed and signed Intensive English/University<br />

Preparation application form with a nonrefundable<br />

application fee of $50 U.S. dollars;<br />

■ certification of financial support;<br />

■ one passport-sized photograph (2" x 2"); and<br />

■ a copy of the applicant’s passport, if available.<br />

For each quarter of their attendance, all international<br />

students on F and M visas must either<br />

enroll in BCC’s international student insurance<br />

plan at the time of registration or show proof of<br />

medical insurance coverage that is equivalent to<br />

BCC’s plan.<br />
